On Wednesday 19 June, Adri Bom-Lemstra, chair of Glastuinbouw Nederland, Robert Solleveld on behalf of Kas als Energiebron, and Jan van den Ende on behalf of the LDE Centre for Sustainability, formalised a collaboration agreement for an Interdisciplinary Thesis Lab. Master’s students from Leiden University, Delft University of Technology, and Erasmus University Rotterdam will conduct research on accelerating the energy transition.
The collaboration in the field of education and research initially starts coming academic year (2024-2025). Both organizations express the intention for a longer-term collaboration. Adri Bom-Lemstra: “For almost 20 years, the greenhouse horticulture sector has been taking steps on the energy transition path with the innovation program Kas als Energiebron. With this step, we are also linking the educational and research activities of these three leading universities to the energy goal of the greenhouse horticulture sector: energy neutral by 2040. And we look forward to that.”
