Do you have an idea for a scientific research project to explore the interaction of climate and biodiversity? Submit your proposal to get it going!
Till 30 March 2025, research proposals can be submitted for projects on climate and biodiversity for up to €15,000. This funding is part of the Climate and Biodiversity programme of Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities (LDE). A total of four projects can be rewarded this spring. The assessment will take place in April so that the projects can start already in May 2025.
These are projects involving multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers from at least two of the three LDE universities. The main applicant is working at either Leiden University, TU Delft or Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Annelot Broerze, researcher at TU Delft's Faculty of Civil Engineering, coordinates the Climate and Biodiversity programme. ‘Because this is a programme of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities cooperation, it is important to make clear that there is co-creation from different disciplines. For example, ecologists working together with engineers and economists. It's even better if there's also a party from outside the university involved in the project.'

Broerze: ‘With this so called seed money, we aim to stimulate small projects at the intersection of climate and biodiversity. From the programme, we established last year that we focus on practice-oriented research and education at an outdoor location, such as at Living Labs. Examples are Green Village Delft, Polderlab, Buurtlab070, and Flood Proof Holland.'
