As of October 1st we welcomed Ilse and Deborah at the LDE Centre for Sustainability. They will be working as Program Manager Interdisciplinary Education and as Communications and Knowledge manager. Who are they and what will they work on? A short introduction:
Ilse Markensteijn
Ilse Markensteijn just started as Program Manager Interdisciplinary Education at the LDE Centre for Sustainability. She will focus on strengthening the collaboration between LDE CfS and the study programs of the universities of Leiden, Delft and Rotterdam. Together with external partners she wants to increase interdisciplinary and real-life learning. Ilse has a lot of experience as knowledge manager in the field of sustainability and circular economy. She was co-founder and manager of the service Society Based Education at Wageningen University and worked on knowledge programs for the Province of Gelderland, Region of Twente, Ministry of Social Affairs and Rijkswaterstaat.
Deborah Sumter
Deborah Sumter started working on October 1st as Communications and Knowledge Manager. She has a passion for and interested in working on social and environmental sustainability (research) projects. At the moment she is finishing the last bits of her doctoral thesis at the Design for Sustainability at the Delft University of Technology. The aim of her research was to better understand circular design in practice. Based on five studies in which she observed and talked to design pioneers in the circular design field, she identified a set of 9 key circular design competencies that could support the development of circular products and services. Deborah will be responsible for science and knowledge communication, valorisation and dissemination. One of the ways she will do that is by continuing the ‘Uit the Ivoren Toren’ Podcast.
