My name is Audrey, and I am excited to join the LDE Centre for Sustainability Students as Secretary for this upcoming year! I am 21, Dutch-American but grew up in the U.S., and moved here three years ago to study in the Netherlands. I just finished my bachelor's, and am looking forward to continuing my studies as an MSc Industrial Ecology student at Leiden University/TU Delft this fall. I am particularly interested in green cities, nature-based solutions, and generally envisioning urban living that both adapts to and mitigates the climate crisis.
Nature has always played an important role in my life, and I enjoy hiking and getting out of the city frequently. I try to challenge myself to reduce waste when possible, use public transport, and participate/volunteer in local food collectives like Lekkernassuh in The Hague! I think strong local community bonds are imperative for grassroots sustainability movements, and would like to get further involved in such efforts in the future!
Aside from sustainability, I spend my free time going to modern dance classes, enjoying jazz music, and visiting museums. I admittedly enjoy scheduling and organizing my life (who doesn’t love a good routine?), so I am excited to be responsible for all things administrative as Secretary. I am looking forward to working with a great team and organization this year, and to meet the community in person when we come together at the events we have in store!
